I love all types of art & creativity in some way or another (if you haven’t noticed lol). From time to time though, the norm gets a bit boring, and you just want to see something outside of the box (way outside). This is where Surreal Art comes in, It just gets in your face and surprises you til you are crazy with inspiration. I love surreal art in the way that it is unpredictable, different, and Imaginative. Some Surreal Art is unusual, some of it is just freaking TERRIFYING. We explore a few different versions of that below (warning, towards the bottom it gets super creepy lol, some things from my nightmares! and probably your own lol). But anyway, lets talk about what Surreal art is since its not really known that well to everyone.
What Is Surreal Art
Lots of people describe Surreal Art a little differently, here is the solid Wiki definition:
Surrealism is a cultural movement that began in the early 1920s, and is best known for its visual artworks and writings.
Surrealist works feature the element of surprise, unexpected juxtapositions and non sequitur; however, many Surrealist artists and writers regard their work as an expression of the philosophical movement first and foremost, with the works being an artifact. Leader André Breton was explicit in his assertion that Surrealism was above all a revolutionary movement.
Surrealism developed out of the Dada activities during World War I and the most important center of the movement was Paris. From the 1920s onward, the movement spread around the globe, eventually affecting the visual arts, literature, film, and music of many countries and languages, as well as political thought and practice, philosophy, and social theory.
