Lots of people I know really enjoy Calendars (yes the print ones, people still use those!) but not a lot of people know how to make them, or do but don’t have the time to build one from scratch. This is where Photo Calendar Creator comes in – Whether you are a business owner who wants to give out some free branded calendars to your customers with some of your upcoming events on it, or you are just a crafty mom with a photography hobby and you want to make some neat customized calendars with your photos in it and give it to your friends for special occasions – then this software will definitely save you some time and money so you can just make them yourself, print them out at home and hand them out! First lets dive into who they are, then I’ll give you my experience with the software.

How Does It Work

How to Make a Calendar with Your Photographs

So first I downloaded The Photo Calendar Creator Software installation file (its about 50MBs). From there I was greeted with the familiar and easy setup wizard that pretty much everyone knows – so just went through the motions, got it installed and fired it up! One thing is that I do not believe Mac is a supported platform, so I had to fire up the ole PC to test this thing out – so if you want to use this you will need to have a PC at your disposal – or if you are on a mac install a windows OS on your mac via Parallels or some other VM ware software (advanced lol) and install it on there :).

When you first startup the program, it asks to pick the application and calendar language and it will ask you to choose if you want the first day of the week to be Sunday or Monday. Pretty standard and simple – from there the interface is really intuitive and easy to figure out if you have used pretty much any computer application before. It is also worth mentioning that you don’t have to be super creative, or build the calendar views from scratch, there is a pretty good collection of built-in templates in the Photo Calendar Creator which help you to make a quick and easy personalized calendar. Next you can either open an existing (previously created calendar perhaps?) project file or start a new project for a brand new calendar design. When you start a new project you can choose from one of the many calendar templates, they are conveniently grouped into categories such as web calendar, desk calendar, pocket calendar, monthly calendar, yearly calendar, etc. From there you simply pick a calendar that fancies your interest, then all you have to do is edit it as you see fit. You can customize it with pictures from your computer or Photos that you have taken of scenery or kids or whatever you take pictures of to make it look nice, edit the text, change the month style, add clipart, or whatever you want to do to the calendar.

Lets do a quick walkthrough of the interface – if you look to the left of the screen you see a list of page icons, these represent the pages in the calendar that you are creating (or editing – also in the screenshot above it shows multiple pages – this is only the case if you are creating a yearly calendar or some other type of calendar that has more than one page). In the main area as you can see – you see a preview of the calendar you are creating (like most software where you are creating an image or some type of artwork) you can easily click and add/edit things on the calendar with the tools section you see on the right (with these tools you can easily modify the month style, edit the text, add photos and clipart, highlight holidays, etc.).

One of the more advanced things this software does is manage holidays and special occasions for you. The default is that it shows the US public holidays. So in light of this – since the 4th of July is on the 4th of July – on the actual calendar you will see that July 4 is marked with red. If you don’t live in the US though, this could be a problem – so in the software it does allow you to pick from public holidays for the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Spain if you need to change from the default of USA. You can also edit the existing holidays, remove the ones you don’t want, as well as add more to the list – which is a pretty cool feature for businesses, imagine you are having an event or a special sale on a certain day, add it to the calendar you give your customers!

Bottom Line

So if you need (or want) to create some calendars and give them out to either clients, customers, or friends and family – definitely check this software out – it will save you some time! I would suggest giving it a try, It is free to try but the trial period doesn’t last long, but at least it does give you an idea of whether or not you can get what you need out of the software.
