--smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1024\/683;\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<em>OUYA Game Console and Controller<\/em><\/p>\n<p>However, things seem to be changing. \u00a0The newest releases of the most popular consoles \u2013 The PlayStation 4 Neo and the Xbox One Scorpio (not forgetting the PS4 Slim and the Xbox One S), are set to be released within the next 12 months. \u00a0Both new consoles will be able to play the games the current consoles can play, and as such aren\u2019t being classed as a new generation. \u00a0This is very similar to how gaming occurs on mobile phones.<\/p>\n<h2>The Tiered Console Platform and Mobile Gaming<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.androidcentral.com\/talk-mobile\/can-mobile-gaming-kill-consoles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-24481 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.andysowards.com\/blog\/assets\/can-mobile-gaming-kill-consoles.jpg\" alt=\"can-mobile-gaming-kill-consoles\" width=\"878\" height=\"575\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.andysowards.com\/blog\/assets\/can-mobile-gaming-kill-consoles.jpg 878w, https:\/\/www.andysowards.com\/blog\/assets\/can-mobile-gaming-kill-consoles-768x503.jpg 768w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 878px) 100vw, 878px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 878px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 878\/575;\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<em>Can mobile gaming kill the consoles?<\/em><\/p>\n<p>When you play games on a mobile phone, you have two choices. \u00a0For website based games, such as Bingo and Kingdom Rush, you can simply log onto the website via your browser. \u00a0So long as your browser is compatible you can play straight away. \u00a0The other option for mobile gamers is app based games like Pok\u00e9mon Go and Candy Crush. \u00a0These are usually downloaded via either the Google Play or the iOS store, depending on your phone. \u00a0The type of phone that you have doesn\u2019t matter when playing mobile games \u2013 all that matters is that your phone has, in most cases, the latest operating system or the compatible system requirements. \u00a0You can play Pok\u00e9mon Go just as easily on the iPhone 5c as you can on the new iPhone 7 for instance.<\/p>\n<p>Now, in the past, this wasn\u2019t possible with consoles. \u00a0You couldn\u2019t play your version of Fable II on an Xbox One unless Microsoft added it to Backwards Compatibility. \u00a0You also couldn\u2019t play the latest Halo game on your Xbox 360 \u2013 the games were tied to the console they were made for. \u00a0The new consoles on the way, however, seem to be changing how things work.<\/p>\n<h2>Enter Neo and Scorpio<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2dl2xo0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-24482 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.andysowards.com\/blog\/assets\/sony-playstation-4-pro-1tb-gaming-console.jpg\" alt=\"sony-playstation-4-pro-1tb-gaming-console\" width=\"970\" height=\"300\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.andysowards.com\/blog\/assets\/sony-playstation-4-pro-1tb-gaming-console.jpg 970w, https:\/\/www.andysowards.com\/blog\/assets\/sony-playstation-4-pro-1tb-gaming-console-768x238.jpg 768w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 970px) 100vw, 970px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 970px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 970\/300;\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<em>Sony PlayStation 4 Pro &#8211; 1TB<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The PlayStation Neo, or PS4 Pro as it\u2019s also been called, is set to be released on November 10th. \u00a0The new console will have enhanced processing power and speed, and will offer 4K support for gaming as well as support for the PlayStation VR headset. \u00a0Now to most people this might sound like a new generation of gaming, but Sony is adamant that current users of the PS4 will still be able to play their games on the new console, much in the same way that mobile phone games work.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/amzn.to\/2eri4QB\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-24483 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.andysowards.com\/blog\/assets\/xbox-one-s-2tb-console-4k-gaming-tech-1024x874.jpg\" alt=\"xbox-one-s-2tb-console-4k-gaming-tech\" width=\"1024\" height=\"874\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.andysowards.com\/blog\/assets\/xbox-one-s-2tb-console-4k-gaming-tech-1024x874.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.andysowards.com\/blog\/assets\/xbox-one-s-2tb-console-4k-gaming-tech-768x655.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.andysowards.com\/blog\/assets\/xbox-one-s-2tb-console-4k-gaming-tech.jpg 1300w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 1024px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1024\/874;\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<em>Xbox One S 2TB Console &#8211; Launch Edition<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a similar story for Xbox Scorpio. \u00a0Although this device is not set to be released until the latter end of 2017, Microsoft has also come out and said that Scorpio won\u2019t be a new generation console. \u00a0They want gamers to think of it as more like a family of devices where games from the Xbox One will be fully compatible with the new device. \u00a0In fact, Dave McCarthy, the Head of Xbox Operations has said that Scorpio will wipe out the console generations with developers able to create games for the One, Scorpio and Windows 10 without any trouble.<\/p>\n<h2>What Does This Mean for the Future?<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/infinigeek.com\/mobile-vs-console-vs-pc-gaming\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-24484 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.andysowards.com\/blog\/assets\/why-im-a-console-gamer.jpg\" alt=\"why-im-a-console-gamer\" width=\"636\" height=\"357\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 636px;
