20 Simple Healthy Snacks For the Workday

Packing healthy snacks can be difficult, especially when it is so easy to just get mini donuts or a bag of chips from the office vending machine. If you’re trying to live a healthier lifestyle but dread the thought of having to plan ahead for your healthy snacks, here are a few suggestions to make your life change look a little more possible.

Grab and Go

If you’re looking for snacks that are literally just to take and go then grab some of these the next time you’re at the grocery store. If you go for softer fruit like peaches or pears you’ll want to consider how you travel with them. You don’t want them getting smashed in your bag. If you are worried about fruit squishing you can always slide it into a sandwich bag on your way out the door.

  1. Cheese – string cheese or little personal cheese rounds
  2. Apple
  3. Orange – If you want to keep from getting sticky fingers at work you can always cut your orange up right before you head out the door.
  4. Plum
  5. Peach
  6. Pear
  7. Yogurt – pack a spoon
  8. Apple Sauce – pack a spoon
  9. Granola Bar – When you purchase your granola bar see what’s in it. Not all bars are created equal and some are loaded with more sugar than the healthy stuff is able to compensate for.
  10. Fruit Leather

Slight Preparation

Health Tips For Those Who Work At A Computer All Day

These snacks really don’t take a ton of preparation. You buy them in bulk and then have to do a little work on Sunday to be ready for a busy week of grabbing and going. When you’re at the store grab some snack or sandwich bags. Now your job is as easy as dumping portions into bags so they are ready to go for the week. A few things like grapes and most veggies will need to be prepared before putting them in a bag but that is as simple as washing, cutting, and stuffing. This can be done while you watch your favorite movie over the weekend.

  1. Nuts
  2. Grapes – Make sure to wash your grapes and then you can just snip the vine apart so you have nice little bundles.
  3. Dried Fruit
  4. Crackers
  5. Carrots
  6. Sliced Veggies – Wash and chop up your veggies so you can easily snack on them throughout your workday.
  1. Cherry Tomatoes
  2. Sugar Snap peas
  3.  Edamame – You’ll want to make sure your Edamame is cooked before packing it away for your snack.
  4. Granola

Dip

At this point, my blood type is Pumpkin Spice!

If you’ve packed yourself some fruit or veggies and you’d like some dip to go along with it grab a few tiny Tupperware containers. With dip, you’ll want to be careful of how much fat and sugar are in them. For dipping fruit, greek yogurt or peanut butter are great options. Hummus is an awesome side to almost any vegetable.

Healthy Snacks to Keep You Going When It’s Busy

One more great way to make your snack a little healthier is to drink water instead of juice or soda. Water will help to keep you fresh and hydrated without giving you all the extra sugar and acid that can be found in soda and juice. Eating healthy doesn’t have to be hard and it is often times way more fulfilling.
